If it's not paid for, I'm sure that $4k he has will pay it off or get damn near close. Older E90s aren't worth a whole lot these days.

Nothing is wrong. It has just cost me a lot over two years worth of maintenance and I don't want to own this nice of a car anymore, it's just not my style. I'll pass on explaining everything, but I'm in a situation where I need to sell the car.

The car is paid off I just need to pay for college, and even doing all my own work on my e90, it still cost me a significant bit to fix. BMW parts are just expensive...

haha, Not a party boy, won't have to worry about puke.
I would be interested in a newer lexus, but I'm not looking to spend that kind of money. I'm not a big fan of the older lexus

With a $4k price range depreciation shouldn't even be a consideration. How much is any $4k car going to depreciate in value over 4 years?

At that price range consider:
-Maintenance costs (that's why I ruled out the BMW)
-Fuel economy (you're talking about a very big difference between the Jeep and the Miata)
-Value (is this car worth $6k when I can get it for $4k?)

EDIT- My last vehicle was a 2003 Infiniti M45 Y34. I bought it for $3500 with "issues." I got a recall done, spent $300 in replacement parts, and put almost 25k miles on it. A year an a half later a girl hit me and totalled the car out, her insurance sent me a check for $9200.
I like your style man, I've never flipped cars so its tough for me to decipher flipping potential in a car, but if I perceive something to be a good deal, I'm sure I'll hop on it even if it's $7k

also depends on the location/weather. I went to school where it snowed like 8 months in a year, and my AWD Toyota Matrix was simply the best car for that job! Also...
- 5 seats to be able to haul people all the time
- wagon for moving from apt to apt every year
- tiny enough to street park easily
- good gas mileage
- reliable as hell
- cheap so you don't have to give any shit
- AND I sold it for like $6k after 5 years of my mom's driving and 3 years of my college abuse with 100k+ on the clock!

it just won't HELP you get laid, but it certainly won't PREVENT it either... actually... Anyways, you'll never know that

Understandable. I was in your same shoes with my last BMW when I was still in college.

If you can afford a small monthly payment (less than $300), go lease a cheap car to get you through college. It will be brand new and have warranty so you wouldn't have any out of pocket expenses.

Note: I will be going to school in Los Angeles (USC) if that was not already clear.
