I got the Chase Freedom card when I was 17 or 18. I've been extremely happy with it for the six years I've been with them. I'm actually looking at getting the Chase Sapphire card as well. Not really interested in the Amex only because my travel is all covered by my company. And when I travel for personal reasons, Chase works fine for me. They have a very solid rewards system.

We have been very happy with the Amex Plat, great concierge and perks. Might be jumping to the Centurion if we get an invite...

I have the Sapphire Preferred card and before that the regular Sapphire and never had any problems reversing charges, no automated system someone picks up right away. Same customer service I got when I had my Amex but with a lower annual fee, and I must admit I do like that the card is metal.

Sapphire Preferred cardholder here as well. The only issue I ran into was in Italy last year. The Hertz desk (an American company, mind you) told me it wasn't a real credit card because it didn't have the numbers on the front and would not work in Italy. Turns out it worked everywhere else I went and was the source of several compliments due to it's metal construction.

I had a chase card for nearly a decade, and just got a Sapphire Preferred about 6 months ago. They are not in the same league. I love the 20% travel rewards bonus if you book through them, and the 40k points I got just for signing up. I also appreciate the metal card - I tend to crack other cards with ease. I also was choosing between the chase and Amex cards, and I am very happy with my choice.
My capitalone360 debit card also has no raised number - perhaps it's the way of the future? |
