Canada Day Long Weekend - Pacific Marine Circle Route Tour in a Cadillac CTS-V
For the Canada Day long weekend, I took my folks and grandma on a 2 days trip across southern Vancouver Island.
Day 1 on Saturday started with a late morning ferry, then a few hours in Butchart Gardens.... ...which was epically in bloom, but I'd wager you're not too interested in that. And then, we parked a block from Victoria's Inner Harbour.... ...then spent a few hours walking about beautiful Downtown Victoria.... ...but I guess you're not too interested in that either. Then we filled up the tank in Langford, went onto Sooke to stay overnight, before tackling the meat of the Pacific Marine Circle Route on Sunday. Description from the BC Ministiry of Transport: http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/Circle_Route...fic_marine.htm My route map for that day: The day started with this view from our hotel, which is A on the overall map: Then, onto the Sooke Loop: A quick stop at B: Back onto the West Coast Highway from the Sooke Loop in East Sooke back to Sooke, passing by the hotel again: Onto Jordan River, which is C: Onwards, to Port Renfrew, the terminus of the West Coast Highway, where we visited Botanical Beach Provincial Park (D on the map) in between a 2.8km hike: Since those rocky surfaces were essentially the ocean floor at high tide, those "tidal pools" let you get up close to marine life that you normally have to dive to be able to see. Finally, we drove on the newly-minted Pacific Marine Road and stopped in Honeymoon Bay on the shore of Cowichan Lake (E on the map): ...before catching the 5:45 Duke Point ferry back to Tsawwassen, our departing point on Saturday morning, making it home in time for dinner. |

Awesome pictures!!
I haven't been to Canada in a while (I'm 20 now, and I honestly don't remember if it was when I was a teenager or pre-teen), but I do remember a bit of Vancouver and Victoria (especially the amazing Victoria Gardens and two+ Starbucks' on the streets of Vancouver). Would be nice to go back soon!

Great pics! I haven't been to Victoria in some time now, but the gardens are a pleasure. I actually stayed in the Empress and in the older wings the hallways totally reminded me of that hotel in The Shining... Made for a fun drunk walk back to the room!
