Bye Pau
It looks like the trade is going to happen. I will miss Gasol very much; he is the classiest basketball player I have ever watched.
It's a shame Mike D'Antoni is the Lakers coach and management is so reprehensible. Everything went downhill with the hiring of Mike Brown It's a shame this team has made so many asinine decisions these past few years. I blame everything on the ex-alcoholic owner Jim Buss who is filled with such arrogance and disdain for logical thinking. His ego paved the way for the destruction of the Lakers http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/10...drew-byum-deal Last edited by BMWM3DREAM; 01-04-2014 at 10:50 PM.. |

The Lakers need to fire D'Antoni now. My guess is the trade will be consummated when a third team gets involved. Mitch Kupchak's forte is getting the best trade possible. Unfortunately, ownership is inept and always looses the assets Kupchak shrewdly gets. Jim Buss is a punk without any aptitude, much less basketball sense

If this trade goes through (not confirmed), it's simply so they can dump Bynum, and free up cap space, and avoid taxes. The Lakers are one of those teams that really needs the tax relief.

Sucks to see Gasol go, though a wise financial decision for the Lakers.
Gasol was always vastly undervalued, and never got the credit he fully deserved. D'Antoni and his staff have stripped away the Lakers' indentity as one of the most storied franchises in sports history with their fail attempt at Showtime 2.0. This, of course, with the aid of Jim Buss. Let's see what we get in return, and what our next move will be. Edit: well, after reading a few articles (on phone, can't post links) it seems this deal is still cloudy at best, as of 8am Eastern. We'll see if it happens. Any team that resides in the second biggest market in the U.S for the NBA will never become irrelevant.
The Lakers have the MOST Finals appearances in NBA history. They have won the 2nd most championships in NBA history. Let me know when the Miami Heat accomplish 1/4 of that before we have someone from South Florida talk about Laker irrelevancy.
