I feel for you man, but you were speeding AND it was raining.

It is going to be hard to fight this since even if you say you were going the speed limit he could claim that your speed was unsafe for the conditions (rain).

I've driven in Ohio weather, where it snows and snows and snows...

Either way, you were speeding, it was wet, and you passed on the right. You could plead not guilty, go to a trial and talk to the prosecutor. You can often get the prosecutor to lower the fine for you without the need of a lawyer. If you get a lawyer, be sure the amount you spend works out to be less than the increase on your insurance premiums.

Only option is to plead guilty and ask the judge for probation. If you have other violations you might as well just pay it through the mail then waste your time going to court.

Very small chance the officer won't show, but if he is there don't plead not guilty because the next thing the judge will ask you is if you are calling the sworn officer a liar. That does not work out too well. I have watched people try many things several times while I sat quietly waiting to plead guilty and ask for probation, which I knew I would get with no other violations in the last 3 years.

Nah, you don't have to call the officer a liar, just state that you believe the officer to be mistaken. The onus of proof is on the officer.

Officers will often show on their day off, because they get paid overtime to sit and watch you squirm. The one time I secured a lawyer (had other items attached to ticket that I was contesting) I lucked out and the officer no showed. I had the case dismissed, but I still had to pay the lawyer. Every other ticket I usually waive or plead guilty in court if I have to show.

It's the same thing (whether you say it with political correctness or not). The officer is there to prove his ticket was an honest one. Whether you think he is mistaken or a liar, you are saying he is testifying to something that is inaccurate.

If he shows up to court, if the radar gun was certified, and you have other violations in the last 3 years, then good luck, but I don't see it ending well.

Almost all officers take notes about your demeanor during his discussions with you. He will either tell the judge you were polite and cooperative or say you were combative. How do you think it went?

An officer isn't obligated to show you his radar.

If ur driving record is clean, pay da fine and do traffic school.

If not, you got nuttin to lose and have to fight it. Take da chance that da cop won't show up and you get dismissed (50/50 chance if ur in da big cities) Peep this link for possible arguments: http://www.ticketassassin.com/ Lots of good info there!
