One of my buddys just sent me this link. Pretty crazy.

A lot of beautiful examples of what a vette is, down the hole.... Sad day.

It got the one millionth car...

Great museum though. I hope that the hole hasn't hurt any of the rest of it structurally

They're going to do a survey of it to make sure the structure of the dome is fine before they move any other vettes. They moved the only 83 ever produced out of the way because it was too close to the hole.

A couple of the cars that fell in were actually privately owned and were donated. Really the only cars that are notable are the 2 white anniversary ones - 1.5 millionth and 1 millionth models. And the 1993 ZR1 Spyder the only ZR1 convertable (I believe the other 2 in existence were crushed).

My family is a big corvette family. My grandpa donated his 1966 vette to the museum, for a year or so I think, and it was in this same room.

Good thing it happened in the early morning when no one was there. I wonder how quickly it collapsed.

Indeed it is a great place!

It is frightening to think that in June 2012 my best friend and former partner walked around those very cars when we took the VIP tour and checked out the museum.

Page 4 of my photo album shows some of the cars that have been swallowed.

I was also there recently, I have family in Nashville so I almost always trek to Bowling Green when I am visiting them. There are pictures somewhere of my GF and I posing very very close to those cars in March '12. The ZR1 vert was one of my favorites.

Awesome pictures! I see that you all did the factory tour as well, watching them build the cars really made me want to buy a Vette and do the whole thing where you tour the factory/museum and watch your car being made.

There's a security camera video of it collapsing at the bottom of the page in the OP's link. The floor depressed a little first, then a crack opens and part of the floor falls (but no cars go in) and finally the whole thing just caves in. Took about 45 seconds.

Brings a whole new meaning to "Chevy runs deep". It's amazing how many more of these sinkholes have been happening lately as well as how fast they happen.

Yes we took the VIP tour it was great. They asked if we would mind taking 2 other visitors along so we did. It was a father and his son, the son just returned from his second duty in Iraq so our tour guide stopped in many places and introduced us to various people along the assembly line. Our factory tour took 3 1/2 hours. At the end of the line the young fellow was asked to start a car at the end of the assembly line drive it off the line and stop just before the DYNO door.

I highly recommend the VIP tour. There was a picture near the exit that they would build a track on the other side of the express way. I don't know if it is finish now or not.

Here is a picture of the proposed track ... would be fun for ///M3 drivers in the area ... I don't think I'll try it with my 280 SL when passing there next after all my babe is 45 years now ...

It's crazy. I took a field trip in school in 1994 I believe to the museum. It's a very cool place. I remember seeing the c4 vette with a Falconer v12 engine in it. That whole area and much of Ky is sitting on top of caves.

That stinks. That's my favorite place in KY.
