What to do with my 3rd vehicle ML 350
Hi everyone,
I hope some of you can shed an idea of what I should do with my 2006 Mercedes ML 350. Currently, I have a 2010 135i (38k miles) and my wife has 2007 335i(90kmiles). The ML 350 is a family SUV and we haul our daughter and do family things. We're also expecting a 2nd in July. The ML 350 has 119k miles and have issues. The SUV have been misfiring and I've spent $1200.00 on labor/parts on fixing it. Coil, spark plugs, etc etc. now the dealer is telling me to replace the battery, fuel injector, engine hardness, etc etc with a quote of $5000.00. Having a SUV and 3rd vehicle is nice, but not necessary. Would you guys take it to a independent shop and have it fixed (keep 3 cars)? Or sell it back to the dealer for $8000.000 (kbb trade in value is $10349) and in the summer use that cash with trading the 335i and get a x3 (go down to 2 cars)? The 335i is getting high on mileage. I plan on keep the 135i for couple more years and have both kids in my car.

Why not get an independent quote to fix, if it's reasonable fix it, and then sell on private market. Unless you can't net a few k more than 8 there doesn't seem to be a compelling reason not to. Sounds like the dealer just wants to throw parts at the problem on your dime.
