I must be the only one who prefers not having an M3. I can appreciate all of the Ms (and the AMGs and the Porsches) but I'm just not into owning BSD (Big Swinging D*ck) cars myself. I'd do an Aston Martin or a Maserati though - expensive but for some reason they don't come off as trying so hard. Just IMHO however.

I would like to, but the price may be a little too steep for me. I think what I may do is keep my 335i for a while as a daily driver and get a used C6 or something of that sort to mess with
Not to mention the type of tranny limits me to what cars I can drive unfortunately because I'm a paraplegic.

I completely agree, they are great cars. The only downside is that they make a definite statement and some people read it the wrong way. I guess in my business where I have to deal with investors, understated is the way to go and although the new M3 looks like it could be an exception, the super-aggressive styling you get a lot of times can send the wrong message, to SOME but not all people. So maybe it's just my personal circumstances. I'm just not a flashy guy.

If the base price turns out to be low 60's in US dollars, no way. I need all of 2008 to pay off the 335 I got in May.
I don't have any plans to go to the track and a 335 with procede v2 will pretty much match the new m3 in a straight line. I love the M and having that v8 would be incredible, but I am not taking a 7k depreciation hit clearing 20k and then having to add another 20-30k down to make it a reasonable payment, especially if they are 70k out the door. |

The thought has never even crossed my mind because I know that I can't afford one.

I also wanted an E46 M3 but when I bought my first BMW (a 2002 330ci), there was a year long waiting list so I "settled" for the 330.
Early this year, I bought my 335i. I knew the new M3 was on its way, but I didn't care anymore at this point, and the 335i is a fantastic car! My new philosophy is this: The M3 is a fantastic car, no doubt. But ultimately, it's a bit of a compromise. Although it has incredible sports car characteristics, is it truly a sports car? Instead of selling or trading in my 335i and getting an M3, why don't I just keep the 335i and buy a sports car instead? Besides, considering you bought your car not even a year ago, you lose quite a bit of money selling your car to get an M3. The dealer WILL gouge you in this regard. With the markup and the gouging from trade in, expect to pay more than $20k than if you had waited and just boughten an M3. Why not keep the 335i, save the money for a bit, and buy a Porsche instead? Trading up after one year doesn't really make practical or financial sense. |

So a few weeks ago I went on the e90 waiting list, and to my surprise I am now #1. Now what? I have now had my 335 for 1 year (as of last week). If the e90 M3 comes out within a few months of the e92, It's a bit too early for me. At this point, I don't really want to have 2 e90's in my garage, but if I attempt to sell my 335, I'm sure I would take a big hit. I don't really like putting a large chunk of money down for the M3 (or any car), so what to do?

i believe the m3 is a sports car. not in the league of a porsche but still a more practical sportscar.
the m is a magnificint car. so much different then what a 335i can offer. you read on the forums that yea my 335i can perform better then the m3, some looks, etc but ultimately its a totally different car. your talking about a M bmw made by the M group of bmw. the feel, agility, etc is completely different. and plus i heard the CSL might be comming to the US since much popular demand of the csl in europe. if that comes out ill be all over that shiet as well. |
