Even though I'm a Nikon guy, I wish you all the best with your new purchases. I have the equivalent Nikkor 85mm 1.4G and the 50 1.4G, and they are just beautiful lens. Bokeh crazy shots. You'll love 'em. Congrats.

What you'll notice most about your new camera and glass is how much more capable you'll be in dealing effectively in extreme low light settings. No need for super high ISO. You'll just fire away and be stunned at the quality. The best reason for investing so much $ in this kind of sensor and glass. Well worth it.

Yessir. I was making a joke must be nice to have Nikons fast AF because the 50L and especially 85L are so slow.

Reason I went with this setup is because I mostly shoot landscape, portrait and low light. Never sports or anything fast moving that I need a decent AF system for. Saved a little money there over the 5d3.

You'll be surprised at the 50L, its not slow to focus at all. The 85 on the other hand is a marvel of engineering and will take a little more time to get bang on focus every time wide open.

Yea I was quite surprised with the 50L and how quick it was. The 85L on the other hand... You could read a book waiting for it to grab focus. I also noticed that you need to take 2-3 shots of your subject to ensure it actually gets decent focus - even with a still subject and a tripod each shot will have something different in focus at 1.2. Definitely a large learning curve with the lens.
