I think it very important to remember and honor and give thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice on D-Day. They gave their lives to win our freedom so we could sit here on Free Donut Day and hang out online without fear of immediate tyranny.
If you haven't already done so, I would suggest a moment of silence |

My late grandfather was in the army in 1914.(WW1) They were waiting for the Germans to invade the Netherlands, which they didn't.
26 years later they did... My other grandparents were living on a farm and held 2 jewish children from Amsterdam secretly in some kind of basement. After the war the children emigrated to Canada and we never heard of them eversince. About just 20 metres from where my dad lives there is a small monument where in 1942(?) 10 randomly chosen people were shot by Germans because of retaliation measures... Anyway, happy to be living in a relatively quiet country/part of EU... Edit, I'm still grateful(Im only from 1970) the British, Americans and Canadians liberated our country in 1945 and not the Russians. Thank you. Cheers Robin |
