W205 C63/AMG GT Motor Revealed
"Like the 6.2 that came before (and is still in the C63 AMG), the 4.0L M178 will make at least 510 horsepower and 479 pound feet of torque. Those numbers are almost exactly the same as the 6.2 in the Edition 507 C63. The displacement shouldn't really come as a shock, either. Audi uses a 4.0 V8 in a number of high performance models like the S8 and RS7, getting as much as 560 horsepower out of the mill. Look for AMG to change that power output depending on the application."

Looking at that picture, you can tell the engine is going to be well setback from the front of the car. In conjunction with a dry sump oil system, which will let it sit lower as well. I bet the new AMG-GT is going to handle like no other AMG car ever. They weren't joking when the said it could be a 911 killer.

Now, while this is the M178 motor, the W205 will receive the M177 designation. It's just a nomenclature thing (like the SLS and W204 shared the 6.2L V8 but the former had the M159 while the latter came equipped with the M156).
But this is a great preview of what we should expect in the W205 C63 as well.

Yes of course the M159 had the dry sump setup, wider main bearings, stronger connecting-rod bolts, forged hardware/internals, and a higher-pressure oiling system.
I was merely referring to the overall engine architecture and displacement. Should've made that clearer but I thought everyone was familiar enough with those two motors, as your post evidenced.
