Whaaaaaaaaaatttt? I'm like. ......thanks but I'm good.....

The interior is very nice, for a chevy, but the front end is ugly as crap.
Yeah there is actual official black GM trim you can get that goes on the Commodore (same car, same trim) which rectifies the front end BS. But you're right, the dealerships are really uptight about this car. And there are about a billion recalls going on for GM right now (I wrote "billion" as a hyperbole but just realized it might not be!), including two or three on the SS. Oh GM, you rascal you! Just can't stop building cars that want to kill people, can you?

Another thing that's hurting sales of this car is GM's refusal to market it at all, whatsoever, except in NASCAR. They're only trying to move 3500/yr but still when it doesn't even make a cameo in any of your commercials, something is very wrong. It's supposed to be a semi-halo car of sorts, dealers are obviously treating it that way, so why isn't it presented that way to prospective buyers? Very interesting.

So I pulled the trigger yesterday! Ended up with a 2011 550i CPO.

Did the deal over the phone and drove a one way rental to Miami to take delivery.

Jet Black on black with bamboo anthracite trim.
Sport package, convenience package, premium 2 package.
1 owner, 28k miles

Oh.....and did I mention it has a Dinan Stage 2 tune?

Great news is my rotiform wheels will fit so I can keep em.

I had them throw in some new all weather mats and black grills to close the deal.

I have been convinced that I wanted an S4 for a while ....until my test drive yesterday. It is a beautiful car and although the best performance of the 3... I felt underwhelmed and it feels small. I feel like my 335i is a tad larger, more comfortable, and a better performer.

The 535i was by far the most luxurious and plush...great interior, smooth and capable but not as aggressive performance as what I have in the 335i...felt boring
Didn't help that they have a new M3 and M4 on the lot taunting me

A6 TDI was surprisingly nice, never drove a tdi before, lots of torque, capable, nice interior but....again just felt like a decent business class luxury car....felt practical despite the price.

So now I am considering the following. ...Cadillac CTS V Sport (V6 TT), Dodge Charger SRT8, Ford Taurus SHO, and Chevrolet SS sedan. Have not test drove any of them. ..but all similar class and larger cars.

Thoughts, experience, recommendations?
I recommend test driving a '14 E550 4MATIC. It's actually a bit lighter (and faster) than the 550i xDrive (which is a great car). It has a 4.6L biturbo V8.

It's luxurious and it's an absolute torque monster. Plus, if you tune it, you can easily achieve well over 500 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.

Even after driving my C63, my E550 still feels like an animal, particularly from a dig.

Totally missed it haha. I was close to the 550i as well but a few things nudged me toward the E550.

Congrats! Enjoy in good health.

Thanks for catching that. I have edited accordingly.

I meant the 550i (xDrive variant). Surprisingly, the E550 4MATIC is only about 250-300 lbs heavier than the 535i.

Car and Driver has the non-xDrive 550i weighing in at 4417 lbs (auto).

The 4MATIC E550 weighed in at 4411 lbs (auto); 0-60 in 4.3 sec.

Well interestingly some jerk in an E600 sedan flew up on me coming home from Miami and flashed his brights on me to move out of his way .....so I took the opportunity to "play with him" a bit and got up next to him. He is probably still wondering what the hell is in my car because we both punched it and I just started walking away until we both let off

This Dinan Stage 2 tune is nasty up top.....pulls like a freight train!

There is no such thing as an E600. Right now, there is an E350 and an E550.

You raced someone with fake badges. It was probably an E350 (NA V6).

A Eurocharged Stage 2 E550 puts down 502 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.

What are the numbers/gains for the Dinan Stage 2 Tune?

that's awesome....you forgot to say nice kill though

Well it was a little older body style for sure maybe 2009 ish, pretty sure it was an E class body but it is entirely possible it was an S or a rebadged car......because it was slightly ghetto looking. It was a gold color with some flat black plasti dip looking design on the roof, back, and trunk if that gives you an idea.

Not too mention we have people putting Mercedes grills on Nissan Altimas around here so i dont put anything past anyone.

As far as Dinan stage 2 numbers, 494 HP and 579 tq

Nice kill.

Those are very robust gains! You made an outstanding decision going with Dinan (in my humble opinion). Years ago, I had plenty of Stage 2 goodies on both of my E90 335i sedans. I was always thrilled with the quality of Dinan's parts. They live up to their warranty promise, too!
