Louis Hamilton Goes to McLaren
I assumed the marriage would be breaking up, but I thought it would be Rossburg moving out of the house:
http://www.f1today.net/en/news/hamil...laren-for-2015 Will the Hamilton fans follow him to McLaren? Will the Alonso fans follow him to McLaren? Will the Honda fans follow them to McLaren? Will the Button fans follow him to??? (Oh - never mind!) I'll put on the popcorn! |

Wow, didn't see that one coming. I can't believe Alonso will also go back to McLaren now. That didn't work before and it won't work again. I can see Alonso going to Mercedes, though. That will leave Rosberg with the same problem he has now, i.e., a teammate who won't back down when push comes to shove.

Holy Wow!
I agree, did not see that coming. I wonder how this will play for the remainder of the season at Mercedes; Lewis might have contracted himself out of the drivers champs. by defecting.

seeing as how his name is Lewis not Louis, I'd say there is a fair chance this is BS:

It would be odd...leaving a team with a massive car advantage to go back to a team that is doing crap sounds unlikely. Unless Ron has convinced LH that Honda is the next big thing. My money is on LH staying at Mercedes.

Well, "sources" provided this news. But there's no confirmation at the moment.

Who knows, what seems like Ron Dennis imminent kick-out Button, Vettel leaving RBR, and Alonso going to McLaren, added Lewis-Nico drama makes a good silly season~ There were also reports from Maruice Hamilton indicated both Sebestian Vettel and Fernando Alonso were also visited Woking earlier. So keep guessing~

If you read carefully, all it said was the site had source from McLaren saw Hamilton visited Woking, came out with a huge smile, and someone inside said he signed a contract.

Oh man, this would be awesome. LH back to McLaren and Alonso to Benz. Solve all problems in one go and make everyone happy. Well, maybe not ROS for long...

Disaster if him & Freddy are teamed up again--I mean DISASTER!!!
I'm quite certain Alonso is headed to Merc & I guess that's what his cryptic-speak must have meant. My money's on him for 2015 WC... GO Freddy!!!

I wouldn't think Hamilton will leave a hot Mercedes seat especially given their dominance this season.
Mercedes had pulled such an advantage throughout the season (with 4 races left, and they still dominate). Pretty much a second advantage compare to everyone else, from the first race in Australia till last week in Suzuka. Mercedes can even keep develop this chassis for next season, and probably still has 0.5 sec advantage among the grid. I personally do not see why Hamilton will leave the well known team. And depart to a huge unknown McLaren. McLaren will have Honda power unit next season, how good it is, its a huge unknown. It might be as good as Mercedes. But even with that, McLaren had produced poor chassis since 2009, every year they almost headed to a wrong development direction. Given that, a poor chassis will still be an huge disadvantage to McLaren unless they really hit the spot next season. With that said, both Ferrari and RBR had disadvantages on power units this season. Thus makes Alonso and Vettel going to McLaren more believable. Since its a more worthwhile gamble to them.

Agreed, that it wouldn't make sense to leave the top F1 team @ this time--but why the visit to Woking in the first place, then? |

WRONG WRONG WRONG!
Lewis is not moving teams right now. (see below, taken right from his FB profile, posted just 12hrs ago...) I'm focused on 1 thing & 1 thing only right now....Winning this championship!! I have not spoken to ANYONE about my future & certainly not to another team. I am committed 100% to MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS, this is my team & my belief in them is unmatched! #realtalk #family #wewinandwelosetogether #TeamLH

I don't believe for one minute that Lewis will return to McClaren, especially as Alonso is (no doubt?) heading back there. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Alonso's contract gives him some sayso in who is in the second car; Lewis would be the last person he would want there.
I think that a driver first and foremost wants to win the Driver's Championship and that's where Lewis is, or at least should be, in his thinking. And not just one time, (or in Lewis's case two times), but many times over and over if they can. To do that you need to have superior equipment; (think Vettel/Newey/Red Bull), and an incremental amount of money from another team would be secondary to the trophy(s). |
