It was running hard; I was in the left lane 1st one. Hit a puddle doing about 69-80 something like that. Hydroplaned across the highway (4lanes) hit a car in the third lane. Was faced in te other direction of the highway. Car is a mess. I was holding the brakes the whole time.

oh crap. you allright? something similar happened to my in my 96 prelude si. doing 80. car was dropped, never checked tires (bald tires). bumper in the middle of the road. swerved, crashed into the concrete barrier on US59 (major highway, 5-6 lanes i think). Scary as sh*t. I walked off, with only minor cuts, and that to due to the airbag.
I think i passed out for a few seconds because one second i was spinning out of control, next second i was feeling like crap looking at the wall. my engine went in like a coke can smashed it was really bad. Quote:

I'm not religious, but I think someone was looking out for me that day. I was scared to drive for a few weeks, and drove slow as sh*t. Now i'm back to Speedy Gonzales. I really need to slow it down. Also, the highways in Houston SUCK. You'll find: full size mattresses, bumpers, 2x4's, tires, full cardboard boxes and cows on our highways. Yes. Cows. I saw a freaking cow darting across Beltway 8 South at 9:00 p.m. was scared sh*tless (the cow, not me). it was a 2 lane road. These rednecks really piss me off. Quote:

1) two things come into play here. if i disclose my price i wont tell you where i got it. if i tell you where i got it i wont disclose my price. why? because then that place wont give me good deals anymore. it's called a hook up and i got it for a reason. sorry but i'm not going to try to help other people out by risking all the sweet deals i could get later on. selfish? call it what you want. the location told me not to disclose anything so i'm not.
BUT if it's just a random deal i landed on that is offered to EVERYONE but just NO ONE knows about it, that's a different story. i'll share. 2) PM's are good for a few reasons. most people will look at the price and if they dont like it. they'll just leave. now you have no record of who is somewhat interested for future reference. leave the price blank and they will have to PM you. negotiations go from there. you can view it as somewhat of a sales tactic.

The car parts world is an interesting place. Almost any joe can get a business license and sign up with a car parts distributor. The discounts at the beginning aren't that great. BUT a lot of these guys are doing it to hook themselves up or their friends and making almost no money. People forget that people selling on this forum run a business, to make money. And they should, just like best buy, fry's, etc.
When joe starts selling stuff, he is a small time hero. He wants to get in to market and become the go to guy. How does he do this? He sells for dirt cheap. He lists his prices, and the other vendors are now forced to play a price war. What happens next is that the market price for things goes down. The sponsors go to the vendors and say "hey man, i can't sell your stuff...give me more of a discount" and the price war continues until the manufacturer can no longer bear the loss of profit that they were once getting. Sometimes, I see threads from sponsors marked as "SALE PRICe!!!" and it's actually MSRP, but they throw in shipping for free. Hardly a deal, especially when coming from the Honda world where EVERYTHING is discounted to almost no profit. I used to sell a lot of car parts. A Sale price @ msrp is no sale. A lot of manufacturers and distribution companies are fighting the home based "fly by night" operation by requiring larger cash purchases ($10,000 + per order to get more discounts), or just saying no to home based licenses. If anyone went to SEMA this year, they may have noticed a lot less people. The committee tried very hard to not let in fly by night operations, or "garages run by kids". It was a much better show this year than last. I actually had time to talk with vendors and manufacturers instead of being surrounded by 50 fan boys oogling over the new parts they were going to get for THEIR car, as opposed to thinking about how to apply the new product lines to their business. |
