Whoa..wait a sec Tesla P85D - is this right ?
Greetings,
To be honest I have not really paid attention to the all electric cars, but I happen to see the new Tesla has some outrageous numbers. 864 ft. lbs of torque has 2 motors for a combined output of 691 HP front motor puts out 221 hp, the one in back 470 hp Plus the ability to do over-the-air firmware upgrades for enhanced speed. The list price is $105,670 about the price of a nice M5. I dunno if I can ever give up the sound of a V8 - my hope is that people drive more electric , which drives down price and demand for gas...so there is more of it for us that drive V8's ...that would be ironic

Yeah, and 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. Not bad for a brand new car company. They are also extraordinarily safe. Where other manufactures are hamstrung by bureaucracy, I get the sense Tesla is really innovating at a much faster pace. It's great news for consumers as the big brands try and keep up!

Yeah, the acceleration stats are impressive.
Does anyone know about the handling, braking and top end numbers?

I've been in a P85 and was very disappointed with the fit and finish in the interior. I would best describe it as looking exactly like a car that was manufactured by a brand new car company. Trim pieces were not set correctly and the leather felt very low-grade. I appreciate the achievement but would be pretty upset if I just paid $100k and it arrived looking like it does on the inside. It almost looked like a test mule.
They also have a really tough row to hoe with fuel prices declining so steeply.

Personally, I'm a fan of the brand. For any naysayers, consider how young the company is and the fact the fact they are a USA domestic car brand. Sure, other US brands have stepped their game up but Tesla should be considered among the top. Furthermore, this technology is still relatively young with a minuscule amount of R&D put into it when compared to the traditional piston motor. The future is sure looking bright for Tesla, props to Elon for making it all happen.
Flat out in the P85D from a dig just feels... electric Oh, there is some comparison in this thread as well, though some of the replies are kind of laughable -> http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1073297

And that 458 can do that all day long. Just fuel it up in 2 minutes and roll some more.
