The number is 900k that's compensation, not salary. But it's more than enough for most to live on. A lot of us work with douchebags for less than 500k. It's impossible to get by today under 200k. Under 200k and a person cannot drive anything better than a 3 series. Sensibly, that is.

I'm not gonna lie, reading this thread kind of scared me hahah

I am half way done with the CPA Exams (hopefully I will have passed my remaining 2 by the end of May) and I was planning on working at a Big 4. I know they get a bad rap but after reading what you guys have posted it seems like working there is a nightmare!

It is a nightmare, but it's the best place to start your career. Most other companies want accountants with CPAs and Big 4 experience.

This. Its a great opportunity that will open many doors in the future. Any type of controller/CFO, etc job will likely have "Big 4 or similar" as a position prerequisite.

X2 on the LOL
Can you please elaborate on this some more and tell me how someone can "only" afford a 3 series on a 200k salary. Because I see my cousin (age 19 driving a 60k car that his dad bought with his "200k" salary) I myself provide for my self though.

That happening everywhere, new grad are looking for what is in it for them, if a company can not show them that then they will not hire on or leave real quick. Most time the best talent has this attitude, so if they are not willing to work like a dog to get the $ the big 4 will be left with B or C team the people who can not get something better.

Marking partner is extremely hard unless you have connection at big companies which you can bring in a new clients you will never get there. Partner are revenue generators and have relationships all over the place.
