Need help Looking to purchase an M6
Hey guys,
Im new here and looking to purchase an BMW M6. I found this white/red BMW M6 2007 with around 55k miles selling for 30k. However it has been in an accident. The carfax shows car ran out of curb and hit a tree. Airbag deployed. However it is not a salvage title it is a clean title though. Looking for the expert out there who is experience with that can help me. If this is a good deal or not ? |

Only buy an M6 of that vintage with a manual transmission. The SMG sucked big time. I know. I had one for three years.

Are you considering a wrecked M6 because you are looking for a deal or because of budget limitations? If it's the former than have a reputable BMW specialist shop do a thorough PPI and make your decision afterwards. If it's because of budget then run, even if the wreck didn't cause too much damage the running costs can be astronomical. You could very well spend more than $30k in maintenance/repairs over a couple years, based on the age and mileage.

I have an 06 M5 with the SMG. I rather like the SMG and I would suggest getting the car with it. Assuming that the car has been repaired properly I have no problem getting one that had the air bags go off. The thing is, that price seems a bit steep. I bet its probably worth around 25k. I can buy an 07 M6 in Canada for 30k and our dollar is worth 25% less than the USD. And that machine hasn't been in an accident.
Thing is I bank around 5k a year for repairs on my M5. Sometimes I get lucky and nothing happens for a year but then the next year you'll have the clutch blow up and it'll be a 10k bill. Best of luck! |
