Wife and kids are away for the week (NSFV)

I do this every week. The desert is great weather for steaks, and the wife being away for x amount of months makes it easier to get drunk with friends and grill steak.

Holy crap... Minus the depressing talk about tuition, this is one hell of a thread! I've always wanted to try a tomahawk; yet before today I was so proud of myself for grilling a rare porterhouse (when the girl I had a crush on at the time wanted medium

)...

But seriously, keep that beauty the hell away from one of my buddies... He loves to grill, but he's a "hand sanitizer on the hour" germaphobe and likes everything well done

I was at a Japanese steakhouse where they cook in front of you. Almost everyone in my party had filet in their order and specified either medium rare or medium except for my nephew who ordered well done. The chef went around the table repeating everyone's order and choice of doneness. It went like this... "medium, medium rare, medium rare, medium, and beef jerky."
