Only thing that is keeping me to stick with the T6S is HDR movie because I do plan to make a lot movies using this camera along with still pictures. NFC is nice but not necessary. The part where I am going back and forth is the shutter speed not being as fast as the 70D for that action shot.

I shoot birds in flight, including hummingbirds and never needed over 1/4000-sec. I think you'll be okay.

Canon screwed me... I pre-ordered on April 4th, 2015 and received confirmation email the same day. Few days before release date I received a confirmation that my order should ship within 48 to 72 hours. I called today and Canon tells me my camera is on back order.
So I went to my local Bestbuy and was about to buy the Canon T6S and at the last minute picked up the 70D instead |

Just a quick update... I still have not decided on what to get. So far I'm still using my Canon T3i but my all time fav is still my little 3/4 Panasonic LX7 with its Leica f1.2 lens. No one gives me a second look, like when I have a DSLR, so for now I am staying with my little Leica knock off.

I have a T5i and enjoy it. I've had it for a couple years now. I also use the Tamron 18-270 lens. At the time I went with the T5i because it had stereo mics as opposed to mono and longer recording time for HD video. It's been a great all around camera, but that 70D is looking good too!

I have had the T6S for about a month; still a great camera, but it has mostly been used for event coverage+a few gigs, not the flora/fauna/scenery I originally wished for. I highly recommend it to anybody else planning on getting one... But most of the functionality isn't too far off from the 60D I used to have.

OP, I am enjoying the Canon 70D, it is a world of better camera than my ancient XSi I picked up in 2010. If I were you I would go ahead and bite the bullet on a more capable camera instead of sticking with an entry level camera. But then again it all depends on what type of photography you are mainly doing.

Between the T5i and the SL1, I'd pick the T5i mainly because it has that articulating touch screen in the back... It's a great feature to have.

^^Thanks. I was thinking along the same lines. I am just waiting for the D70 prices to drop. They did go down to $1,300 for the body and 18-135 Canon lens... but I was hoping for a steeper price drop. For now I am still using my LX7 for incognito car shots. Dackel
