16yr boy crashed on Ring while his mother waits in the car park...
The following story is from Dale Lomas from Bridgetogantry.com fame. This story is just increadble and crazy. I hope the long arm of the Law will catch up to this mother and son team...
I wouldn't be surprised to see some new restrictions put in place to verify driver's actually have a valid driver's license. ? Dackel from Bridgetogantry.com The Wochenspiegel Ahrweiler are reporting that a 16-year-old boy crashed at Kallenhard(on the 'Ring) yesterday while his Mum was waiting in the carpark. But that’s not the whole story… The sorry tale begins on the A61 autobahn yesterday morning where a speedtrap caught the Swiss-registered car speeding at 215kmh in a 130kmh zone. It was a mother and son on their way to the Nürburgring… Faced with a €1260 fine and a possible 3-month driving ban in Germany, the intrepid duo continued to the Nürburgring Nordschleife to join in the final day of touristenfahrten 2015. Apparently not satisfied with the results of the trip thus far, next the Mum allowed her 16-year-old son to drive the Chrysler Crossfire on the track for an undisclosed number of laps. I’m going to guess around 0.5 of a lap (he actually did several laps, later reports confirmed). Because numerous sources are reporting that this “sportscar” crashed at Kallenhardt, while poor old Mum was waiting in the car park. Needless to say, the 16-year-old driver couldn’t produce a driving license (this is not America) and this Thelma and Louise tale came to an end. As a reference, I’d highly recommend researching the well-known British textbook Viz, specifically the Spoilt Bastard archive. AND HERE’S A VIDEO OF A SWISS-REGISTERED CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE ON FULL ATTACK FROM YESTERDAY (1m12s) And another from 5m30s: sources... http://www.bridgetogantry.com/16-yea...ts-in-carpark/ https://www.facebook.com/Wochenspieg...29030227254331

I don't know what's worse. The fact that the mom thought it would ok to let her son drive around one of the most difficult tracks in the world without a drivers license, or the fact that it was a Chrysler Crossfire.

I've had a couple Crossfires and they are pretty quick. That was an NA version, which is pretty weak compared to the supercharged SRT6 model. I ran 11.0's in my old Crossfire SRT6 in the 1/4 mile. Keep in mind, they are built using Mercedes SLK components. The SRT6 shares SLK32 AMG drivetrain.

So far no one has posted a video of the crash. Only that the local newspaper... "Wochenspiegel Ahrweiler" reported that the "kid" crashed his mother's Crossfire. Its quite possible that the German and Swiss Police are conducting an investigation into this "family". I guess in time we shall see what happens

Yikes, when I was there a guy got a 4000 euro fine just for running vanity plates on his car on the Ring. Can't imagine what this fine will be.

My honest personal opinion is that they shouldnt just let anyone on the track... you should need a few sessions in HPDE style with an instructor and after that you earn a basic license with limitations and then move up... half of these videos just show cars that are completely unfit for a track, people that go far above their capabilities and the most amateurish moves ever.

During Euro Delivery the included insurance covered the car while on the Ring since it's a public road. |
