Part of me suspects that the FBI knew about these people for some time and were tracking them in order to catch a "bigger fish", but then they went ahead and shot up an office on a whim.

I say it was on a whim since they had pipe bombs in the house they never used so it looks like they were planning on something bigger.

I base this conclusion on absolutely nothing.

I think the two dummies thought they might get away with it,that they had enough time to leave the country . Drive to Mexico otherwise the nearest mall would've been their next stop.

Also the pipe bombs they left at the conference room didn't go off.

I'm all for stopping crazy people from getting guns - who wouldn't be? But - who gets to decide?

- if you take anti-depressants, this could be a reason used to deny you gun ownership.

- if you want a gun for defense, this could be interpreted as being paranoia, and used to deny you gun ownership.

Obviously these examples would not make sense to people to deny a gun purchase, but that hasn't stopped the government from hundreds of other senseless actions - unfortunately I wouldn't trust them with any erosion of 2nd amendment rights.

But in the same press conferences, they repeatedly said they weren't on anyone's radar. So either the FBI is lying, or stupid. There may be a distinct possibility they are stupid about lying, or maybe they are just lying AND stupid
