Ask yourself, why do manufacturers like Ferrari, Pagani, Audi, Lexus, and BMW spend millions of dollars researching ways to create stronger, lighter materials? Why do major organizations like F1 have such strict weight and material rules? I have no doubt that a BS can do great lap times on various tracks, even versus a car like a GT3. But how much of that is due to the BS having a huge advantage on the open straights? You can't describe the driving characteristics of a car by simply pulling out drag time slips, or Nurburgring lap times, that's too simple of an analysis. Honestly, I don't know what else to say except if you have some spare cash, go to a place like this: http://www.gothamdreamcars.com/ I've used them before as a treat to myself, about 7-8 times already. I'll go and rent a super exotic like a F458, a LP640, and even an Audi R8 v10 for an entire day or two as a treat to myself for that month. I'll take a drive from OC all the way to Ventura County, do a Mulholland run, etc. You really get to feel what these super cars feel like. There's a huge difference between a car that weighs 4,000lbs, and one that weighs closer to 3,000lbs. It may not seem like much, but you will feel it, I promise you.

I personallywould pick the CLK, but I think the Corvette is a smarter purchase. If you have to ask this question (ie you aren't passionate about the Merc) then the CLK isn't for you. In other words I would never tell someone else to buy the CLK over the Vette

Didn't read the whole thread and admittedly don't know a ton about the vette, but speaking on the MB is be very wary to own anything AMG out of warranty. Those can get damn expensive damn quick. Looked at a CLK a while back, possibly similar vintage perhaps a bit older memory is foggy. Anyway was told to run away as fast as I can by my MB expert unless I wanted to potentially throw tens of thousands at repairs in the event of a major issue.

Guys saying go CLK fine, but then saying because it's a track car over the C7 baffles me. The Corvette is built for the damn track.

Get the CLK BS hands down.
Yea its out of warranty and will cost a little more to maintain but 4 years from now it will be worth virtually the same as it is right now, on the other hand the corvette will be worth 30k if your lucky. A Black series benz will always be more special then any corvette. How many stingrays do you see on a daily basis? 4 or 5? |

Extremely easy choice, the CLK black series is without question the better car. I wouldn't worry about track numbers so much because they're both fast cars that handle and unless you're an extremely skilled driver you probably won't be approaching the limits of either one. It should go without saying, but the Benz will probably be quite expensive to maintain.

Thanks so much! I plan on keeping it as long as I can. I put a very small deposit down for the next gen GT3 because I heard the manual is coming back. I am hoping I can afford to keep both.
