Mounting Surround Sound Speakers..Need Help!!

im putting one in each corner of the room (i bought corner shelves that i need to put up) but i dont know how much higher then the TV they should be...the tv is about 6-8 feet away from the front speaker corner...i was thinking i should place them about 2 feet away from the ceiling which is about 4 feet higher than the tv..is that too high? how much higher than the tv should the speakers be? thanks

Ideal would be at ear level while seated or just above ear level. If you can't mount them that low (ear level), I would go as low as possible.

2 to 2 1/2 feet from the floor...standard siz of rear speaker stands......

shit...i put them 60 inches above the floor...should i go for 30 instead? sounds kinda low

well.....go to your local best buy store and look at rear speaker stands...they are 2 1/2 ft tall....so when you are sitting on your couch, its at ear level....if your rears are mounted that high....you can put them on an angle so they are pointing down....if they are pointing straight ahead at 5 ft off the ground....well its not functional and you wont get optimum sound.

Are you placing these for sound or looks? What you describe doesn't sound optimal for sound, which IMO is the most important part.
