It's amusing to see the fear we have as dad's, especially with daughters!
It's funny... When we were trying for children, naturally I wanted a son. The second time around I also wanted a son. The thought of a daughter getting older and stuff... Uhhhm nope!
Add I've gotten older, and watched friends of mine with daughters grow up, I think it would be nice to have a baby girl. Sadly... The age gap for me now is too great.
To this day folks always ask or suggest we try for a girl.

I posted my stepdaughter here last year, though not sure if I should post again. Senior year!

You need more? I'm always ready to donate...

My older son is six, and he thinks I'm a demon for making him study. The kid had informed his kindergarten teacher that "i am aware we do math differently but I think I should be allowed to have math written and in English because I don't have an ear"

The teacher had asked him why won't he do the math they're doing here.

"I have a math book at home and I prefer not to be confused. "

The teacher asked me what's up, and turns out my dear son doesn't know the names of numbers in Finnish and didn't want to confess since he's discovered he can get away with murder if he blames the missing ear on it.

Have that one, please...

"and could you please come up with childrens songs for our Friday dance times? I'm sure you have childrens music at home?"

Well no.

Don't ya love how teachers assume we have every single item they believe we should have?
Speaking of... Every year the "Hunt for School Supply List" begins. Even though we pay a pretty sizeable amount in annual school taxes. ANd then throughout the year, we are kindly asked to donate/refill more supplies.

I had never even heard about that one, until we lived there. Here schools are completely free. The first time I got the list, I truly thought it was a joke. I still wish to know why I couldn't just give money instead of having to go shopping!

Now answer me this: Is it possible for a boy to find a pair of shoes? I've bought my son six pairs this summer and I fucking can not understand why every morning we have an Easter egg alike hunt for two matching shoes!!

The damn kid is very, very smart, but he's pissed with me for me making him to go to kindergarten now again, so he can be with the kids his age (school starts here at the age of seven.) and he absolutely is livid because he didn't get to go to an English school. He is sure bart Simpson works in the English school.

That seems like an easy problem to solve...

When he comes home, grab whatever shoes he is wearing and put them on a shelf high above his head. If he wants to go out again, he can find a pair himself around the house.

Then, next morning, a guaranteed set is right there waiting for him.

I'd be pissed too if I had to go to a Finnish speaking school. I can totally relate.

That's actually a good advice, except we run around bare foot all summer here. So basically even when I make him wear shoes to go outside, he ditches them somewhere.

I'm quite surprised how good his English is, but it is nowhere near as good as his Finnish is. He has read books on both for two years now and he's way above the required skill level for a kid his age. That is a relief when he only has 10% of hearing in one ear and the good one is at 75%.

Anyway, he's fluent at cheating so if anyone here is working for the fraud department of any highly skilled police organization, and is looking for a kid that will give them a work life surroundings to home life, pm me.

I am VERY organized and particularly anal about shoes (I keep all of mine in their original boxes) and when my sons come inside: They remove their shoes, take them to their closet, place them on the racks. If I have to remind them of stuff like this, they don't play devices or video games for that day. They have also learned to hang their clothes up or place in laundry basket or the same consequences apply.

Tell me more about the "English school" and why he is repeating Kinder?

It must be tough for 2 American kids to adapt in Finland, people there seem so proper, they miss Murica.

Um, I would assume so too, Finnish is the third hardest language in the world. These sucked up English quite well in two years while we lived there and now they want to move to Germany to learn a third.

Maybe your normal, average boy could be saddled with such a mundane chore. Obviously he has much more world-saving things to worry about.

Shoes? We don't need no stinking shoes (until the frost comes)

In America, school starts a year earlier than it does here. He's repeating kindergarten to stay with his age group. He has a tutor to ensure he can keep on learning English (and bart Simpson) but I didn't feel like putting him to an English speaking school since the key according to studies for learning more languages is that the first language is valued and kept as the basis for learning.

Go write me the guacamole recipe and stop ruining internet for me!

(I laughed out loud reading your comment. That seldom happens here anymore)

I wrote you the guac recipe on page 8.

But, since you can't be bothered to find your shoes:

Fresh avocados, mashed. Really, HAAS is required.
tomatillos, diced. About 1 for every 4 avocados
Roma tomatoes, diced about the same size, 1.5 per 4
jalapenos, diced finer, 2/4
Serrano pepper, diced very fine, 1/4
lime juice squeezed over mixture
garlic
finally, cilantro. bruise it, then dice roughly and mix.

I didn't see it!

Oh thank you! I'll be repeating this tomorrow!

I am mildly addicted to Mexican food, especially now that we are in the cold north again. All my window sills and plant pots are filled with pepper plants, I actually take seeds out partially and mark the peppers so I can plant the best tasting peppers.

I'm pathetic, I know.

I grew orchids as a hobby. I have more shit than most weed producers.

That tells alot about my orchid problem.
