Who falls for this? lol. The IRS doesn't call you unless you call them first.

Atta boy! It actually gets entertaining--it's like you can have an argument and rip on someone and not feel bad...they are asking for it/

oh yeah..I wish they called me with that one...would have been really fun..if they got me in the right mood, they would have rather been sprayed by a skunk.

I love messing with these guys. I try to keep them on the line as long as possible as it ruins their metrics. Got a call from a credit card scammer. I held him on the phone long enough for him to get incredibly upset with me. I mean, he was MAD. It was beautiful.

There is a $16,000 fine for DNC registry violations. If you can get a live person on the phone remind them of this fact, they'll stop calling guaranteed.

Garage List
2010 135i Coupe  [5.26]
My wife got one a few weeks ago when we were on vacation. It was hilarious. They kept telling her she made an error on her tax filing which equates to fraud. She kept asking who he was and he said "agent mumble mumble from the internal revenue service". I told her to hang up on them. They called back and got me on the phone. I asked them what was going on and they told me my girlfriend made errors on her tax filing. I told them that if they were the IRS, they would have her correct filing status (we're married and I filed them). He got really frustrated and fumed "You'd better get a good lawyer!!!"

We called the number back a few hours later and they answered the phone "hello?"

lol

Is this true? Because they said I owed over $32,000, and I negotiated it down to $4k and just mailed the check last Thursday. I did think it was odd that the address was a Mailbox Etc. in Latham, MA. Part of me said the IRS does not have an office there

It drives me bonkers that everyone is asking for a SS#. Last winter I donated some money to the local ice hockey club--one of the kids all of 7 y.o. asks, "social security number?" I said why, I gave you cash? He said the treasurer said we need to get that and also if it's ok your dob? There's no way a 7 y.o. is thinking this up by himself. Although I saw him put the info into an iPad with a Velociraptor sticker on the back

My phone was very active with calls from Minnesota for about a month. 3+ calls a day. Finally they left a message and it was a "business opportunity" directed to an ex girlfriend that I haven't spoken to in 15 years. They called my # looking for her. WTF! I didn't even have a cell phone when I knew her.

my 2 favorite scam calls:
guy calls with thick Indian accent, saying he's from Microsoft and would like to talk about security concerns on my pc (I only own Linux machines). last time he called I said "bullshit, I don't own any Microsoft products, so you're lying" he actually yelled "mother bitch!!!!" and hung up.

the other one was one of the same IRS scammers, I told him sure I would pay, but only if he came to pick it up. I then proceeded to give him the address of the local Mongols MC clubhouse have fun getting paid

I had a call last year from a dude with a bit of an African accent calling me saying he is with the NYPD (out of Brooklyn) and is from the collections department. Apparently I owed them $900 in violations (mind you I'm never in NYC and if I am I don't drive up there) and he would have me arrested if I don't pay.. I tried not to laugh in his face but it was hard.. I explained to him that a good friend of mine is a detective out of Brooklyn, so I then firmly asked for his name, badge number, and precinct. He hung up really quick after that. I honestly can't believe people fall for shit like this..

Someone was using our local PD phone number to try to scam. It was so prevalent with people *69 and telling us to quit calling, we had to set up a phone tree for those people, so that real calls for service could get to a dispatcher.

It went on for MONTHS, not sure it has died down yet. I can never remember the new direct line for dispatch, so I always have to go thru the phone tree when they call me.
