Unless these were driven by the same person, these times are completely meaningless. Personally, I don't believe for a second that a Z4M would be slower than a E46 M3.

This graph clearly shows that the M version of X5 is the worst thing ever to come out of M. To this day I don't understand the reason they made this car.

Who has ever said "I think today we should all go on a track with kids on the back seat and some food and drinks in the trunk so that we can have a picnic after our track session"

Not only was VIR repaved at the end of the 2013 season, but they added significant width to many corners, especially on track out, making the course faster for any car driven on it. Hence new pavement (i.e. nice sharp asperities now on the racing line that tires love to grip) plus wider track created a completely different before/after track.

Now VIR was just repaved again a few weeks ago since the first job wasn't up to par, so while the track wasn't widened any further it's still got those nice fresh asperities everywhere.

Ditto on the comment about the drivers. In car video will show the skill, or lack thereof, of the drivers and hence the inconsistencies and widened error rate of test data.

I read this after a few drinks and thought shit, I must be drunk! So read it again today sober and still can't figure it out. Anyone with time on their hands and a science degree care to explain or put in a table?

Wow M4 GTS is almost 7 seconds a lap faster than the next car... The m4, which is like a second faster a lap than the m2. Color me impressed, that GTS is quick.

Guys the graph is incredibly easy to read.

Here's some help...

Dots with a black center are weights, no black center is lap time.

Both Y axis are from low high going top to bottom. Since no one cares what the numbers are and just how each model compares, ignore both sides and just know closer to the bottom is better.
Ignore both white lines.
X axis is basically the year from old on the left to new on the right.

Now that I've confused you even further...have fun.

Is it just me (or my monitor) or does the 2006 M6 and the 2015 M4 have the exact same color?
