European Bimmers
I'm studying abroad this semester keep seeing really cool cars everywhere, figured I might as well post some here! I'm gonna try and take a tour of the BMW factory, which would definitely make for a sweet photo shoot even if it makes me miss my baby all the more.
Here's the cool old-school Alpina which inspired the thread, very dirty but still awesome: Found a couple more! Check out this bad boy: Anyone know what series/model this is? (almost looks like a 1) And I went to the autoshow in Vienna science musem, Baller! (but not beamers...): Lots of Mercs... And of course the big dog: And a couple sweet ass rides I saw in the street. Not beamers but it's hard to hate: More on the way

The one you where thinking of as an old 1 model and the "bad boy" is a 316 or 318 Compact model. There where sold here as 1.6L and 1.8L
They came even smaller. The TI model was wery short. 14" where standard wheels. Today even in europe the smallest model is a 2L engine. But it runs a lot longer pr L then the old 1.6L. There are still a lot of them in my city. Size is a bit larger then then new 1 model. The blue E90 on top is a 318I or 320I standard. No alu rims on these 2 models as standard. And not many choses to put alu rims on course of the prices over here. Up to 5.000 USD for original rims from BMW. England was the last country where the 316I was sold. I think it was a 1.8L in the last model and with about 100BHP.

+1 to what Chunga said about the 316/318 compact models. Those headlights are custom. Well, not the headlights, but the hood and bumpers cut out some of the lights to make that look. I think it's ugly. Very popular when I was down in Australia.
