Best Track in NJ/NY area?

Any idea of the best public track in the NJ/NY area?

Want to start tracking my car and don't really know where to go.

Closest one to me is Monticello but that's a private raceway and it's $$$$$....

Lime Rock, check out Motorsportreg.com for clubs running events.
NNJR PCA very friendly club and runs great events. They did Lime Rock already this year but have more local stuff coming up.
Answer to your first q about them, yes you do not need a Porsche to run at their events.

Additionally if you have no track experience I would suggest some Autocross events to familuize your self with you cars habits and limits. NNJR is also running a car control clinic at the meadowlands also on Motorsportreg.

Have fun and keep the shinny side up.

I can't find any open track days on their site... do you have to be a member for those?

Yes there is. Check out Track Night in America by SCCA. Besides their events starting in the afternoon (around 2-3 PM) rather than ass crack of f***n dawn early, it's also only $150 and you pick your run group. Intermediate and Advanced have no instructors. Even in Novice group there isn't a "pace car" but they tend to limit speeds to triple digits.

I'll be at NJMP on 5/10 in the Advanced group. Would love to see some more M's in attendance!
