Memorial Day

A thought of remembrance and respect to those that fought for this country to make it free. Something many people take for granted, yet we all must never forget those that put it on the line for all of us regardless of religion, race, gender or political affiliation.

Everyone enjoy the day, but at least at some point give a solemn thought to those (and their families) that are not here for the day or made it possible for us to have a holiday.

I have a few family/friends who are currently serving/who have served and I thank them year round. I speak for myself when I say this, I don't have to guts to do what they did but I admire them all. Thank you for serving for my freedom.

Here's to all who are serving, served, died, were crippled, their families, and the sacrifices they made to keep America safe.

Went to a Giants game today with my son and took the train to SF. We were sitting behind a Navy Seal ( I knew this from the cap he was wearing ) And we go to talking and he said this day had very little significance to military personnel as dying is part of the job. He also had some interesting perspectives regarding missions and how they are handled by the media
....but that is for another thread

As a retired Air Force officer who served a combat tour flying F4s in Southeast Asia, I would respectfully disagree with the Navy Seal. I lost friends and associates, but dying is not part of the job! This day, to me, has much significance.

God, I miss my Dad. Korean war vet.

My Dad was a living example of personal integrity and honor. I've never met anyone I respect more.
