Yeah that's the one. I think it was right around $38k. Carmax had it at $36K.

That 6 series is going to be a tough sale, I turned it in early June.

I feel you on the interior space.. Its too not much for a full size SUV. The standard black leather on those does wear pretty quick if you dont take care of it. Get the Laguna interior and it will be a different story but you can only get that choice 2014+ That is what ill be getting if my RR starts giving me shit.

On the other hand You could try a Durango R/T I had one for a while and it was awesome. Really nice leather interior with a 3rd row and very reliable. You can get one for well under 30K as well. The jeep and Durango both come standard with remote starts which was really nice for winter

Going from a BMW X5 to a Nissan Murano or Ford Exploder would be "Dead set" Tragic.

The Jeep at least has a good interior, good reliability, great looks, and great sound.

Im talking about a top of the line SRT8 Jeep here. Not a 12k hunk of plastic jeep patriot or compass

I have a Grand Cherokee summit that I lease. I love the car, but I wouldn't buy a new one let alone a used one. They are not reliable cars. That being said I wouldn't own a BMW past warranty either.

The Grand Cherokee is smaller than my current X5, and although I like the outside styling, I'm not a huge fan of the interior.

And I cannot see myself getting out of the X5 and into an Explorer or Murano either.

If I'm going American, it'll be the new Yukon...

How has your individual experience been with the Jeep? We've had ours for two years with no issues. My 135i, on the other hand, had suffered a complete failure at 6k and needed about a dozen trips to the dealer in my 3 year lease. The Jeep is MILES more reliable.

I will admit my experience hasn't been that bad, only had the car for a little over a year. It's given me minor problems, and much more reliable than my old range rover so far. The BMW I had for 2.5 years didn't have an issue at all.

I agree it's hit or miss with any car, but in general the Jeep is a less reliable car compared to Lexus/Toyota, especially once you get to higher mileage. I am also under the notion that Piet is buying a car outside of warranty, if he is planning to buy a car still under warranty and sell it before warranty expires, then it wouldn't matter to me as much.

Come on! Jeep usually sits above Mini and that's about it when it comes to anchoring reliability scores. Notoriously poor QC.

The answer is the Toyota 4Runner. Go to toyota-4runner.org and check out the classifieds. A gen 5 (2009 - present) would suit your bill.

I have a Gen4 and while it's plenty of room, the Gen5 is bigger and has better creature comforts and would be great for your family.

Throw some bigger tires on and you have quite the pavement stomper too. Although it won't be as nimble as the X5.




EDIT: Oddly enough I didn't read ANY of the member suggestions until now........I'm glad to see I'm not the only one recommending a 4Runner. They are awesome for a reason!

Lol you're basing your argument of consumer reports/reliability scores. In that case I have nothing more to say to you. You've probably never owned a jeep

The only car I've owned that left me stranded was my BMW with only 6k on it. No issues with our Jeep in two years.

Loved my 99 Land Cruiser and 06 LX470 (same chassis). Besides the active suspension on the LX, both cars were solid. A few examples on the forums have reportedly gone over 400k miles with their original motors and regular maintenance. As for reliability, I don't see why people are saying they're not reliable. The Lexus suspension doesn't "fail" per se as some people think. It just gets older and needs maintenance too. Quite a few just yank it all out for a traditional setup if they plan to off-road.

Kenobi is spot on. A LC will be reliable for hundreds of thousands of miles, not 2 years. If you're truly looking for something reliable for 10+ years the Land Cruiser is as bulletproof as you can get. No offense to anyone, but a jeep or dodge is not even close. If you have no plans to keep something outside of the warranty period, by all means buy what you want. If the OP is truly looking for reliability a LC is impossible to beat.
