American English spelling?
Does anyone know the history of how the English language was changed in America?
I am referring to the removal of "u" from many words (flavoUr, coloUr for example) and replacing "s" with "z" (realiZe, organiZe). Also, WTF is with mOm instead of mUm and aluminum instead of aluminIum? |

Actually education had nothing to do with it; words were spelled just how they sounded. It is only relatively recently in the history of the English language that spelling was standardized. And now texting is undoing it all.
