BMW brand most unreliable in UK- J.D Powers 2017

Well well, just can’t see how BMW is less reliable than JLR, but interesting nonetheless.

Wow... this news hits just a week after Consumer Reports placed BMW in the Top Five (US market) for best brand reliability, up four places from last year. How fast the pendulum swings.

J.D. Powers' polls are pretty bogus.

First, they have lots of categories so that everyone can get a few "participation awards" and huckster the hell out of them. The manufacturers pay JDP to run new award categories just for them.

Second, "unreliability" measures a person's "problems" with a car. I just answered a lengthy survey today for my GT, just to see what the questions were. And it is possible to claim a car is having problems because the driver doesn't know how to use the car's various functions. You are surveyed after 30 days. It often takes 3-4 months to learn how to use everything. And I bet a large proportion of owners never learn the most important functions.

The surveys are a better test of the IQs and attention spans (or lack thereof) of the owners of new cars.

A better survey would be of the cars from each manufacturer Lemoned every year. But J.D. Powers is bullshit.

What he said above

This is just the way products are pushed in every facet of our economy. They are all bought and paid for by some company or sponsor trying to get the sheep to swallow it.

luxury cars will do badly in this type of comparison since they have so many more features that can break.
