lolol yup. Luckily its a leased CX5. 250 bucks and some elbow grease and back to normal she goes.
She told me she backed out of the garage and hit the edge slowly .... .... i dont know, i feel like she starsky and hutched the hell out of that garage.

I should take pics of what i have to go through to get out of my garage in my E46 (smaller than most sedans) and i have to manually open my garage squeeze between car and the wall and go into the car through the passenger side (because that side is open to my neighbors car) then pull out unfold mirrors close garage. Walk out open gate then back to car to drive up ramp and away before gate closes worst pain in the ass ever......i miss America lol

I previously owned a g37 manual. One morning my wife needs to take my car to work. I get a call about 3 min after she leaves that she is "stuck on the garage door". My driveway has some slope as you leave the garage. While backing out she caught the drivers side mirror on the door frame and couldn't feather the clutch to pull back into the garage without drifting further back.
She had to put the car in park, climb across to exit the passenger door so that I could climb in and pull it back in. Then blamed me because I had previously parked the car at an angle in the garage! And she wonders why I won't let her touch my M? |

i can understand your approach but at least its just a mirror.. after buying it not much things can go wrong with some other parts like hood etc.. life goes on..

of course the initial post was nothing more than /sarcasm
But yea, surprisingly the cost of a new one of these assemblies isn't too bad. And no damage to the garage so thats always a plus. I was more amused by the text, it was literally 3 words ... "i broke it"

Could be worse. My mother once backed her Volvo wagon out of the garage and hit my father's 500E (yes the Porsche engine one) in the driveway. She freaked, pulled forward and hit the house. So front of Benz, front and rear of Volvo, and house all damaged.
She was crying when I called his hospital and informed him (while he was performing surgery) so he could catch her before she tried to use a Brillo pad and soft scrub to do some DIY repairs.

Mine has had 5 accidents in 8 years, some minor, some biggish.
Parking is a nightmare, we have a single garage and i ask her to park more to the right so i can slide through but she manages to park closer to the left as well as drives forward about two foot too many and bangs up the front of the X3 on a rubber bin i put there, figuring a rubber bin is better than the wall. The driver door is banged up from her parking close to the left side than she should, marks everywhere. When i park it, close to the right side, she trips out and I have to back it out despite 3 billion senors and a 360 view camera. Just a disaster. |
