Um.. no way man. There's nothing wrong with the M235i, but these cars are in a totally different class.

Congrats OP, beautiful car, American domestics are knocking it out of the park and giving the Europeans a run for their money. The 1LE and the ZL1 are serious contenders.

Around a track sure, but I don't know if the OP bought this as a track car or a fun toy.

This isn't a ZL1, the SS 1LE is only a 12.4 second car stock (and 12.7 in some tests) which even an N55 can easily beat with minimal mods.

Comparing modded to stock... The he mods his 1LE & you still need more mods to keep up. Come on.

I hadn't sat in a Camaro in quite some years and I have to say, GM has stepped it up. IMO, ZL1 1LE interior is just as quality as my M3. The switch gear and buttons all feel solid, the seats are soooo comfortably and the ride, while stiff, is no worse than my M3 now on Ohlins Coilovers.

Track toy? The ZL1 1LE is not a good street car...

Thanks Mr Carrots, OP here. I'm a once per year HPDE track day driver running in the intermediate group for a few years now. I like straight line performance too, but have zero interest in driving on a drag strip.

Like others have said, a tune isn't near enough for an M235i to catch a 1LE on a road course. The 1LE beat the M2 by 7 seconds around VIR in C&D's last Lightning Lap, and the difference was 3 seconds at Willow Springs with Motor Trend's Randy Pobst driving both cars.

But my motivation wasn't to have the ultimate track car. I just wanted something more racy, aggressive, and badass. And for an added bonus, the 2SS version is way more loaded with standard features than an M235i. It's only been two weeks and about 165 break in miles, but I am absolutely loving this car so far.

I almost bought a 1ss but the dealer wanted like 5k over sticker. Didn't think it was worth it.

That is subjective.

I always modify my car's suspension, usually with coilovers because factory setups are always too soft and lacking for me. Or in the case of my TTRS, just added springs because the damping was stellar already stock, but wanted to get rid of the dive and squat.

I like that race car feeling , even for a daily driver.

I have test driven the ZL1 1LE, and it is no stiffer than the Ohlin R/T's on my M3. In some ways, the DSSV dampers soak up better than the Ohlins.

I would have no issue daily driving it

"You'll only need to possibly void your warranty to keep up with that car, c'mon. Did you ever think about that?"

I love people who talk about modding a car "slightly" to keep up with a different car stock.

Lots of motors are capable of high power outputs with minimal mods. I don't really think that's a fair comparison, ever.

I guess you have a high threshold for discomfort.
