Happy July 4/Independence Day to all the American posters that I respect, even if I don't always agree with. It's too bad the US has become so divided ideologically.

I spent both July 4, 1978 and July 4, 1983 in Houston, TX and Denver, CO respectively; and enjoyed both immensely with a number of neighbors and work friends. Great people and great times when I lived there. Not sure it is as good any more....

I'm a bit crispy this morning. I looked over and saw 1:21 as bright explosions were still erupting in the sky. Alarm is set for 5:30 . . . I'm all for having some fun, but car alarms and explosions in the sky should not be occurring at 1:21 on a school night!!!

Seriously, for me the 4th of July,
is quite poignant I landed properly as a permanent resident on 4/7/10
I got my visa in 2009, landed and had to go back to sell my house
started my first real job in Canada on the 2nd jul 2012

And now 9 years later the bastards are not gonna make me give up my
British Passport. A Canadian passport is as much use as Maple Syrup on a
on a NAFTA agreement.

Within 2 years , I went through the most stressful things you ever wanna go through
Selling house, quiting job, immigrating (leaving friends, family, church) , getting married, getting pregnant
father dieing in Canada while on Holiday, having to deal with funeral arrangements, re-patriating
family squabbles over "his" will, personal issues with 2 OD's

I can quite categorically say that in the words of Harry Enfield
"You don't wanna do it like that"
