Laptop Repair?
I just noticed this while sitting at my desk during a call. Any ideas on how best to repair (other than tape or buying a new laptop)?

I've seen that happen from a swollen battery. Open it up and check it out. If your battery is swollen it can be a potential fire hazard.

Thank you. I took the external battery off and it seems fine, but there is an internal battery too. I need to figure out how to remove it. Lenovo had some other laptops recalled but this model was not one of them.

You might want to check Lenovo's support site to see if there is a service manual for your laptop. A few manufacturers put this out there for public download. It'll walk you through how to do field replacements of various components of your laptop if it exists.

Ok got battery out. Not sure what it is supposed to look like but it is not flat. Could very well be the problem. Of course one of the screws won't retighten so can't tell for sure but it seems like the front closed up better even with that screw not tightened.

I just removed the internal battery and put it back together. No reason to throw it away.

If Lenovo won't replace the battery, you can get one off of ebay - but make sure to get OEM. Knockoffs are not worth the trouble.

Late to the party, but if the battery is rectangular, it's supposed to fit flush against the table. If it's bulging (sitting unevenly), then that's the problem... You might want to take it to a hazardous waste facility since it's pretty volatile and in the worst case scenario, might explode (and they pack a pretty decent wallop).
Granted, this is on purpose, but there's this... Also keep in mind the average laptop battery tends to be bigger too:
