Are there ANY x5s and z4s made in Germany?

A friend and I were discussing the issue of manufacturing the z4 and x5 in Europe. I know that they are currently being produced in spartanburg, sc, but we were wondering if any are still being produced in europe. He says yes, I say no. I was figuring it was like just like how we order and wait for the 3 series here in the states, for europeans who purchase the z4 or x5. They order, wait a longer period of time for it to get across the ocean, and then take delivery. Am I right here, or are they just made to order for those few who want one? Can any enlighten on the subject?

Yes, all Z4's and X5's (and now X6's) are made in the US.
The next gen. Z4 will be made in Germany in order to make room for the X3, which will be built exclusively in the US starting around 2010. Actually, the plant is being expanded to "make room for the X3".

Yes, BMW ships all of the wonderful diesel motors over the pond to us, only to be put into X5's that will go back to Europe...

I wonder how the recent 40% SAV sales drop will impact BMW's plan for manufacturing. It's been only 2 yrs since the new X5 comes out and it's already tanking. (gas price, styling difficult to notice are all factors)

with the dollar going weaker, BMW may need to make more BMWs in the U.S for the local market.

That's what I figured, tally one up for me! Another question though is do the x and z get taxed when going into germany(import tax), as they are when coming into the states? Or is that voided or lessened due to it being a part of their own company?
