BMW UK won’t provide key for theft-recovered vehicle

So, I bought a stolen, recovered car off of an auction site. It’s now a “Cat N” but came with no keys. NPC is clear so there's no stolen flag in their system or on HPI, but BMW has the VIN recorded as stolen. I've been on the phone for eight hours straight ping-ponging between three different police forces, the DVLA, and BMW headquarters. All three police forces insist the VIN and the reg do not have markers but BMW says it does.

The only way BMW will take the flag off the car is if the police email them and say it's not stolen, but the police are saying that they've done their job properly so they're not going to email BMW which I understand. And BMW, being BMW, will not contact the police.

So right now I am left with a car with no keys and no solution. Can anyone assist by providing a solution or even making me a key.

Thanks

I would think that the auction site would be responsible to provide you with keys.

Not unless it specifically said key/s included.

How would you expect to move the car without a key?

You have a purchase receipt? Ownership papers? Settle all that and then contact BMW. Until then you will need to deal with what you bought, a car with no keys. You knew this when you bid on car. You can't expect everyone then to make it easy for you, when the protections that are there to make it difficult for what you want to do, are that way for a reason. But if you can show ownership of the property to BMW, I do not see how they can then refuse. Good luck!

I doubt showing ownership is sufficient though it has to be "cleared" somehow, not sure how...

Maybe by the previous owner?

But knowing BMW and how I had to push with the manager just to get my past maintenance records by email on the car I now own good luck getting their information...

A tow truck. Beyond that, I wouldn't, but having checked out auctions in the past, sometimes cars do get auctioned off without keys.

Over here, when you shows the car's 'ID' papers, BMW will order a key to the VIN on the car ID.

What car is it? Some expensive aftermarket tools can add keys manually.

After 12 hours on the phone I managed to get an email from the police and that sorted it but it was a real headache 🙄

Even after that there was the case of proving the email was actually from the force until I blew my fuse and went on one, and then suddenly the marker comes off 🤷*♂️
