Just got a BMW survey and wrote in the comments in all caps that it would be my last new BMW if they continue to make cars with front grills that are the size of the bottom end of a 55 gallon drum.

I did the same thing. The "halo" product for BMW is the 8 series and the 8 series has reasonable grills. My takeaway is that they only offer a tasteful grill if one wants to spend $150K.
