It's unfortunate that BMW opted to jettison the CRFP passenger cell.

IIRC BMW originally hoped to build vehicles where passenger cell was going to be made of CFRP and the front/rear frames were going to be metal. It was just too expensive even for the vaunted 7-series which was reduced to using CF to reinforce parts of the passenger shell.

BMW divested their ownership stake in a CFRP manufacturer back in 2017.
