Throttle House Assess New Personal E46 M3 Convertible
Thomas finally bought his dream car. The legendary BMW E46 M3. This one is a 2001 Convertible and its had quite the life! According to Thomas this is the best car ever made (when it's working), but the question is, can he convince James of that?

Definitely one of my favorite youtube car channels of the moment. They make some great videos that are incredibly informative especially since they actually talk about how the cars drive in detail, unlike many car youtubers, and not to mention they are a hilarious duo. They're 4-Cylinder Mustang video is still one of the funniest intros they've done to date.

This car is nearly 20 years old and it's worth $10k CAN. Pretty good residual but it's rarity may have resulted in some appreciation vs a few years ago. Even this modified example with storied past lol.

These guys and the Straight Pipes are my favorite car related You Tubers...and they are both within 15 mins of my house! I've seen them both filming plenty of videos (or at least driving the cars they are reviewing).

Idk, I kind of stopped watching all these YouTubers reviewing cars I’m not going to buy. E46 is getting near collectible status and has some problems such as cracking subframe mounts which are very expensive to fix, not to mention rod bearings. I want channels which show not just how the car is to drive but how it is to fix yourself. I want the car to be scored not just by driving but diy score.

Fun to watch. I'm a big fan of the S54 (obviously given I have a Z4M coupe); it's such a fantastic engine.
I hope he paints or wraps the hood soon....

Don't those E46 M3's have lots of known issues with the rear subframes wanting to rip out of the car? I was looking at getting one before I got my 335i....but the price people want for them, along with the subframe issues were enough to keep me away.....that and the fact that getting 400+hp from the N54 is easy.

No, I want to know how it’s like to diy the stuff on the car yourself. Reliability is just merely what breaks and what usually doesn’t. I think something like Vehicular DIY channel but with more driving content and more cars would fit the bill

These are young people trying to earn a living (or income supplement) doing something that clearly they love doing and having fun at it. Would you rather they get a 9-5 office job or bum around at the mall? In the old days you would have newspapers or magazines doing car reviews (many that left much to be desired) or video reviewers such as MotorWeek that, frankly, is no better than the modern YouTubers at providing useful information. Of course as with everything else some YouTube reviewers do a better job than others, but on the whole I think they do a decent job filling this niche and I for one enjoy their videos. |
