After yesterdays trouble, Carlos Sainz has taken the stage victory from Poland's Jakub Przygonski. AL-Attiyah seems to have run into trouble today instead, finishing down in 17th and allowing Sainz to open up his lead to just over 18 minutes in the general classification.
Alonso having a soft landing at least..the angle he took that dune top was too acute Well what a difference a stage makes! The Matador is singing in the sand not the rain and well done to the Pole

..and Peterhansel is just 16 seconds behind Al-A. All being well and knowing Peterhansels last gasp dashes it could be a Mini 1-2.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Despite the margins, I think the fight for 1st through 3rd is shaping up quite nicely!

After 11 Al-A is 10 minutes and a bit behind Matador with Peterhansel just 6 seconds behind Al-A and Alonso appears to be sidelined after rolling his Hilux twice with a lot of hidden damage.
Moving onto the final shootout so come on BMW Mini's make it a 1-2!!
* Alonso made it to parc ferme and sitting in 14th place saying he wants to continue in the final stage tomorrow.

El Matador wins the Dakar. The final stage being shortened because of gas pipeline construction. He's made it a hat trick of wins previously winning in '18 and '10.
Alonso amazingly is 13th.
