when does the car show its age?

To simplify the question, approximately after how many miles does the car show its wear and tear(performance wise)? or at least you think it does.

My car has 30k miles now and I keep thinking the car sounds a little less healthier, corners a little less tighter, etc. Maybe Im just thinking that way. I never kept a car for more than 30k miles so I try to think that Im being sensitive..

What kind of car do you drive? Old Toyotas from the late 80's to early 90's are known to have a brand new car for the longest time. They're long lasting durable cars, though I can't say about Toyotas made right now.

That depends on how you care for it. The best way to reduce wear is to keep the car clean, because wear is typically dirt and grit rubbing into the surfaces during normal use. Reduce the dirt by keeping the carpets and leather clean, and they can stay looking good for the life of the car.

Why is this a difficult question...I would say over 25,000 miles its going to show age. Nothing in the universe is immune to wear and tear.

Good point, that is one exceptional thing about the Bimmer -- after exactly 3 years, the car sounds, rides, corners and looks inside/out the same as the day I took it off the lot (with the exception of performance -- it is actually better!).
I owned Hondas, Toyotas, VW and you could feel the "aging" after 20k miles.
My colleague at work owns G35, same age as my e90, same mileage -- the car feels very loose, the doors sound like a can and the AC is barely blowing (set at 64 auto)! Although, I have not noticed ANY rattles in the G, and my car is the rattle box...

Great job there BMW.

I used to own a 1990 Corolla and I drove it over 275k and the suspension and the body of the car didn't have any major squeaks and rattles. I think there were some minor squeaks from the dash, but barely noticeable only on cold days. There car was driven through potholes the size of craters on the moon at high speeds, and it still didn't affect the suspension and it has been rear ended a number of times. It's truly a world car when it was introduced as I still see the car used in Africa as a Taxi on TV. I can't say about Toyotas made in the late 90's to now. They seem to be losing the new car feel way too early, I'll say after 100K, the car will lose its new car feel. Why? Cheaper quality parts.
