Ceramic coated interior maintenance
Hey guys, so I have the ivory and night blue interior on my X5. The interior is ceramic coated. The ivory (middle part) on the drivers seat has already gone a bit greyish blue, if compared to the passenger.
The car has only done 1500 km's My questions are: 1) How is it best to clean? (I'm worried if I'd use Gyeon leather cleaner every 1,500 km's there'll be nothing left of the ceramic after 10,000 km's) 2) How often do you clean yours? |

I just use distilled water in a spray bottle onto a microfiber cloth (the type for windows, non lint). I wipe the seat, consoles and Carbon Fiber parts. In between i just use a swiffer duster to remove dust if it is not dirty. I have Sikhar orange and black interior. If you have soiling on lighter color you may want to try Lexol PH balanced cleaner. The ceramic coating should protect from dye transfer and I think it does have a UV inhibitor.

I use Leather Masters Leather Dye Transfer Cleaner. Even though my merino leather is Coffee, and I also ceramic-coated my seats, I can still detect discoloration after a time (I wear dark jeans 8 months of the year). The products works, period.
I also use Leatherique cleaner periodically to preserve the matte finish and supple feel. Particularly on the bolsters I slide across entering and exiting, the leather can take on a sheen. Leather cleaner returns those bolsters’ appearance to like-new. Finally, because coating interior leather is so much simpler (or less hazard-prone) than paint, I re-apply the ceramic coating to the front seats once a year, just for good measure. It makes clean-up between applications that much easier and successful. |

Thanks a lot everyone! I've only done 3,000 km's so the distilled water and microfiber worked well for me the before and after pics are below. I'm sure I'll get to the stage in a few months where I'll have to use a leather cleaner. Top up on ceramic in a year is also a great idea, I wear jeans 90% of the time so I wouldn't want that white going blue/grey.
