Superstitions - what are yours?
Another recent thread reminded me of this subject and I hadn't seen it posted before. I figured a lot of people have superstitions, perhaps even ones they don't even notice. I don't have any really strange ones other than making sure I wear the same jersey/apparel when I watch my favorite sports teams play on TV, even if I'm watching it by myself. I'm convinced it brings luck and increases the chances of my team winning.
I'll probably remember more as I read other people's input. |

I'm not superstitious. I'm just a little bit stitious.

My mother has to leave a place by the same door she entered. And if she goes through multiple doors, like front and then back, she has to reverse the order to leave... she cannot just go straight to the car. She tries to make me to do it when I visit, and I refuse to play along. I'd say this is more OCD than superstitious, but she genuinely has this sense of foreboding if it's not done. I don't know. I think maybe I just defined OCD by example.

Considering that a large portion of our population has fallen for outrageous myths these past few years, I guess I'm not too surprised that superstitions still exist.

I tend to think that is more superstitious than OCD? |

Never let my motorcycle helmet touch the ground.
Mentioned this one in that other thread, Ive never filled up at pump #13. (Nor ever stopped within the $13 range when filling up) When riding out in the twisties, if anyone says something along the lines of, one more time, or last one, I'll call it quits there. |

Not me but many I know think that if they talk to the sky they will be rewarded. Not by their own hard work, their due diligence or anything they are in control of. But some spontaneous action, or hope of governs their life.

Not so much a superstition, but more a modus operandi...if life is going particularly well for some reason, just shut up and enjoy it. DON'T TALK ABOUT IT!!

Don't step on a crack or you'll break your mother's back.
Don't step on a line or you'll break your father's spine. We didn't have a car when I was a kid and did a lot of walking and had to find ways to occupy ourselves. lol |

I used to tell my wife the Packers would only win if we had "relations" before heading to the bar to watch the game.
They had a good season, but I had a better one.... |

IF I'm cooking something that needs salt, I pour a bit into my LEFT hand, pinch out what I need to use with the right, then toss the rest over my LEFT shoulder.
Only recently did I realize I was blinding the devil . . . |
