When to replace drying towels?

This is probably a silly question, but I'm trying to be diligent on not adding a ton of swirl marks to my paint.

I hand wash my car, touchless, up until it comes time for drying where I use some microfiber towels.

My question is, is it bad practice to re-use them a lot? I machine wash them and I wonder if that repeated washing/drying process of the towels doesn't make them more "scratchy".

What's the best practice here?

Cheers.
