Water Deionizer?

We have very hard water here and of course my driveway is beat down by the sun most all day on south side of house with no shade. Could use on house windows as well as car. Has anyone used one of these?
Hoping for some words of experience ( particularly Grussgott!)

Ha, thanks Well, my 2 cents is, they're worth it BIG TIME and they work for relatively cheap (depending if you want the cart portable or the installed one).

I've got one on my list, but given I don't have horrible water what I do is, I do any initial spray downs with regular tap water and then do washing & final sprays with De-i water I buy in a 5 gallon bottle from Whole Foods ($.39/gal). Honestly I sometimes find that much easier than pulling out the hose!

I just picked up the griots deionizer system and used it this past weekend for the first time. It reduced my water hardness from 113 mg/L to 0 mg/L. It has a bypass valve so you can wash your car with your "regular" water and then use the deionized water for the final rinse. It's a big tank, so I'll get a cart with a dedicated hose to make set up that much easier.

Doesn't the 5 gallon bottle of water weigh around 40 lbs? Must be tough to rinse the car off ?

Hydroshot - stick the hose in the bottle and go or fill up a 2L for the ultimate portable solution!

Yes, it removes the minerals that leave water spots.
With deionized water you can spray it off and walk away, even let it dry in the sun if you want, no water spots.

I've got a Bosch Fontus cordless 'power' washer that I use for my final rinse ( I've got a proper power washer to actually snow foam/rinse the car off) l fill the Boschs water tank with deionised water and rinse the car off and just leave it to dry naturally.

I only do this if it's a maintenance wash though, if I want to wash and then apply a quick detailing spray/gloss enhancer then I dry the car off with my BigBoi warm air car blower.

What's that short piece you're holding with your right hand? It doesn't look like that comes with that gun.

I have to get me some deionized water for rinse. The normal softened water drops have a habit of drying quickly on the shadowline trim and the dark factory tinted windows including the sunroof.

ah, that's just a stock photo, but it was the shorty extension that used to come with the guns, but I don't think they have it anymore ... I just use the longer wand. I have 2 of them and am thinking about buying the ultra which has the motor that goes into the bucket ... not really for any other reason than to see if it's easier.

I have the Cr Spotless and have been using it for over 5 years. Works great, but the resin doesn't last long. You can get a conversion kit which makes the CR Spotless far more efficient. For anyone that has the system you can get the retro kit and use comparable resin.

Easy mod and only 60 bucks. There is also a video on youtube.

I ended up getting the 2 stage filter, flowing into the the DI system similar to the video I linked to. Chaining them appeared to cause a low water pressure problem, so I foamed the car down with the filtered water, then used the DI after that. The areas where the water dried before I got to it with a drying towel were indeed spotless!

Crazy thing, I tested the water after… Tap: 109 ppm, 2 Stage Filter: 124 ppm, DI: 1 ppm. Needless to say I was surprised to see a higher ppm after the 2 stage filter? I was pleased with the DI, looks like it will be straight DI in the future.
