OEM PPF Brand?

Does anyone know what brand PPF BMW uses from the factory? I’ve got a Frozen Portimao Blue and I want to do the front clip but I don’t want a noticeable difference in the sheen. Xpel is to glossy, there is the film on the rear fender in front of the wheel which looks good, I just don’t know what brand it is.

I am not sure what brand the OEM film is, but when you say XPEL is too glossy, are you referring to gloss or their Stealth? My detail guy has used Stealth on many Frozen Cars and it looks great IMO. Stek also makes a matte film I believe.

Guy at the PPF shop said it looked like 3M, but I have no clue. Mine isn't frozen though, so that may not apply to you

Just go xpel stealth and have them replace the OEM rear piece to match...

I'd also recommend getting some Tommy L Garage mudflaps if that portion is a concern to you.

Their Stealth is to glossy. In the detail shop you look at the paint with the LED bay lights and there is no visible reflection, when you put down the Xpel you can clearly see the LED lights.

We use Xpel Stealth on all frozen paint jobs or when people want their glossy paint to have that frozen look. Its the exact same stuff the BMW dealer I previously worked at used as well. Its definitely a high quality film and when I first heard of it I was quite skeptical on how it would look but I was surprised at how well it matched the factory frozen effect. I never suggest a partial kit that goes half up the hood or fenders so we'll usually do a full nose at minimum this way there is no line making it stand out.

Yea I never do a partial, it’s always full front clip. I just don’t want the fenders to look different than the doors or rest of the car.

Understandable, I think once you see the film on the car your opinion of its sheen will change. We did an M5CS last week in full vehicle frozen PPF, I wish I had some photos of it while it was in the process of being installed so you could see it. I have seen plenty of full noses done between here at our shop and at the BMW dealerships and the end result was always great, none of customers complained.
