UPS bitches
So I sold a pair of jeans to this guy in Canada. I went through UPS and told them to mark it as a gift and that the guy in Canada wouldn't be charged. Now I find out that the guy in Canada is being charged $80 to receive the package. I call up UPS customer service and they say that anything over $60 will be charged. WTF I am not paying $80 to ship a fucking 3lb package (told the guy it was 200 shipped and I want to stick to my word). I'm personally going to bitch at the manager on monday at the UPS store
cliffs: -sent package to guy in Canada -told he wouldn't be charged -guy in Canada said he's being charged $80 -both of us pissed can anyone help me in this situation? |

That's why I NEVER use UPS when shipping stuff from the U.S. I learned my lesson a long time ago. They always screw us. They have a handling fee to bring the package across the border, then the duty, then the Canadian taxes, then the Canada Revenue Agency handling fee.
I always ask for USPS shipping, and ask that the value be declared as $20 or less. Even if you get charged taxes, it's only the Canadian taxes and a $5 handling fee. With UPS, their extra fees pretty much double that cost. So as a courtesy to your Canadian customers, always use USPS. I won't buy from US sellers who insist on UPS. |
