BMW M140i P13C9 error code (eml on)

Hi ,
I currently own a 2017 bmw M140i which has 39k miles on the clock. When doing a motorway run last week the eml randomly appeared. When plugging the code reader in I discovered the code P13C9. Since then I have cleared this code however it has came back after around 30 miles on both occasions. I have read up about this issue and all information seems to point towards the VANOS solenoid. Just wondering if the car will be okay to drive and if anyone else has experienced this issue and if there are any other common causes before I go and purchase a new VANOS solenoid.

many thanks
